Information About Each Side
Liverpool and Brighton have developed an entertaining Premier League rivalry in recent years, with the Seagulls regularly proving themselves capable of competing with the division's biggest clubs.
Brighton's progressive approach has made their meetings with Liverpool particularly interesting, while Anfield has produced several memorable encounters between the two teams.
The 2026/27 fixture will be another opportunity to see how Liverpool's new-look side performs against one of the Premier League's most tactically interesting teams.
Liverpool
Liverpool begin the 2026/27 campaign under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Iraola replaced Arne Slot following the Dutchman's two seasons at Anfield. Slot guided Liverpool to their 20th English league title during the 2024/25 season, while Liverpool finished fifth in 2025/26 and secured Champions League football.
Iraola arrives at Liverpool after three impressive seasons at Bournemouth. His energetic and aggressive style of football helped Bournemouth establish themselves as a competitive Premier League side before he moved to Anfield.
The Liverpool squad has also experienced significant changes. Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson left the club during the summer, while captain Virgil van Dijk remains an important part of the team as Liverpool begin a new era.
Brighton's visit to Anfield will give Liverpool supporters another chance to see Iraola's methods develop against a side that is comfortable playing with the ball and challenging opponents with an aggressive press.
