Champions League 2026/27
The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League is the third season played under the expanded league phase format.
Instead of eight traditional groups, 36 clubs compete in one league table. Each team plays eight different opponents during the league phase, with four matches at home and four away.
Each club faces two opponents from each of the four seeding pots, giving supporters the chance to see a wider range of European match-ups than under the old group-stage system.
The highest-ranked teams progress directly to the round of 16, while other qualifying clubs enter the knockout phase play-offs for a place in the last 16.
After that, the competition follows the familiar knockout route through the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals before the final in Madrid.
Who Are the Reigning Champions League Winners?
Paris Saint-Germain enter the 2026/27 season as the reigning Champions League champions after winning the competition for a second consecutive year.
PSG defeated Arsenal on penalties in the 2026 final at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest after the match finished 1-1.
The French club will now attempt to win the Champions League for a third season in succession, with Europe's other leading clubs looking to stop them.
Watch Europe's Biggest Clubs
The Champions League provides supporters with opportunities to see some of the strongest clubs and best players in world football on the same stage.
Teams from the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and other European leagues compete throughout the tournament, creating fixtures that would never take place during a normal domestic league season.
Players such as Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Lamine Yamal, Harry Kane and other leading European stars can all feature as their clubs chase a place in the knockout rounds and ultimately the final.
Major Champions League fixtures can attract high demand, particularly knockout ties and matches between clubs with large international fanbases.
Champions League League Phase Tickets
The Champions League league phase begins in September and gives every participating club eight matches against eight different opponents.
Four of those matches are played at home and four away, giving supporters more opportunities to watch Champions League football across Europe.
The league phase can produce major fixtures from the opening weeks of the tournament, as clubs can be drawn against leading opposition regardless of their domestic league.
Ticket demand varies depending on the teams involved, stadium size and importance of the fixture. Check individual match listings for the latest availability and prices.
Champions League Knockout Tickets
The pressure increases once the Champions League reaches the knockout phase.
Teams outside the automatic qualification positions can first enter the knockout phase play-offs before the remaining clubs compete in the round of 16.
The quarter-finals and semi-finals are played over two legs, with each club hosting one match. These fixtures are regularly among the most popular Champions League tickets of the season, particularly when Europe's biggest clubs are drawn against each other.
Second legs can attract especially high demand because they decide which team progresses to the next round.
Champions League Final Tickets 2027
The 2027 UEFA Champions League final will be played at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid on Saturday 5 June 2027.
Home to Atlético Madrid, the stadium previously hosted the Champions League final in 2019, when Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.
The final gives supporters the chance to watch the two remaining clubs compete for European football's biggest club trophy in a single match.
Champions League final tickets are normally among the hardest football tickets to secure due to limited allocations and worldwide demand. Availability can become more limited once the finalists are confirmed.
If attending the final is your priority, checking ticket availability before the semi-finals are completed can give you more options than waiting until both finalists are known.
