Newcastle United: St. James’ Park Stadium Guide

Before heading to St. James’ Park, it’s useful to know your options. Located in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, the stadium is easily accessible by the Tyne & Wear Metro or buses from Haymarket and Eldon Square, followed by a short five-minute walk.

The 52,305-seat stadium is the eighth-largest in England and has been home to Newcastle United since 1892. St. James’ Park is split into four stands: the Leazes Stand, East Stand, Milburn Stand, and Gallowgate Stand.

Key highlights for fans:

Statues & tributes: Alan Shearer, Sir Bobby Robson, Jackie Milburn, and Joe Harvey.

Hospitality areas: Leazes Sports Bar, Park Bar & Grill, and the Platinum Club.

Famous atmosphere: The Gallowgate End is where Newcastle’s loudest fans gather.

Gallowgate Stand

The most iconic stand at St. James’ Park. This short stand behind the south end goal is raucous and lively for every game, with incredible displays of support through passionate singing and sprawling banner displays.

Leazes End

The Leazes End is the short side stand opposite the Gallowgate, making it perfect for any fans who want a bit more of a relaxed time at the match but still want to get stuck into the atmosphere.

Here is where the away fans will be allocated their section of the stadium.

Milburn Stand

The Milburn Stand is the club's largest stand and is on the west long side of the pitch. The 19,000-capacity stand contains a mixture of standard seating and premium hospitality tickets, with access to premium lounge areas for qualified NUFC hospitality ticket holders before the match and at half-time.

East Stand

The East Stand is the other long side stand and has fantastic unobstructed views of the pitch, so you will never miss a moment of the action at St. James’ Park.

This stand is opposite the tunnel and dugouts, allowing fans to see how managers and players on the bench are reacting to the game as it unfolds.
