Columbia’s best effort in a World Cup was in 2014 where they progressed to the quarter-finals before being beaten in a 2-1 defeat against hosts Brazil. Despite such a great effort they haven’t shone very well in recent ventures. Their best being a 4-0 victory over China. Despite their poor form they managed to qualify for the 2018 Russia World Cup.
Columbian manager Jose Pekerman boasts an impressive three U-20 World Cup titles with Argentina, since then he has had little success with the senior Colombian side. He will doing everything he can to make sure this is not the case as they head to Russia next summer.

Columbia’s problem over the past two years is their lack of goals despite having such talented forwards. If Jose Pekerman solves this problem during their friendlies, there’s no reason why they won’t be able to achieve what they did in the 2014 tournament and more.
There are a lot of positives to draw from the Colombian side. Before 2014, they hadn’t featured in the FIFA World Cup tournament since 1990. They are finally becoming an omnipresent side in the final 32 international sides. Their best years are probably yet to come since their squad is rich in young players that are playing for World class teams across a large selection of leagues.
Radamel Falcao is perhaps the best known player for the Colombian side, with an impressive number of clubs behind his belt. As part of the winning side for AS Monaco in Ligue 1. His impressive goal scoring record will hopefully be increased for his country during the 2018 Russia World Cup period. In september 2017, behind Brazil on home soil, it was Falcao who brought them back level with an impressive header, also sparking an unprecedented level of enthusiasm for players and supporters alike.
