Italy had a very solid qualifying campaign to reach the Euro 2016 finals. They were undefeated in 10 competitive games, winning seven and drawing three. The Italians managed to go about their business slightly under the radar and topped what could have been a potentially difficult group to progress from. Group H featured the likes of Croatia, Norway and Bulgaria and Italian fans will have been pleased at how their national team progressed with relative ease.

It was their tendency during qualifying to win by slender margins but win they did and Italy amassed a very healthy 24 points from qualification. Antonio Conte's side won their opening three matches in qualification against Norway, Azerbaijan and Malta. However, three draws against Bulgaria and Croatia twice, casted doubt over their chances to top the group. The Italians quality then shone through and they bounced back to end Euro 2016 qualifying with four straight wins against Malta, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan and Norway. Graziano Pelle scored three vital goals and Conte will be hoping he can continue to score more important goals this summer in France.

Italy topped the group to qualify as winners of Group H. Croatia also qualified automatically in second place, four points behind Italy. Norway finished in third and managed to qualify for Euro 2016 through the Play-offs

Fans of Gli Azzurri will be hoping that they continue to grind out results at the finals in France. The Italians will be many people’s tip to go the whole way and they boast a squad with plenty of big tournament experience, particularly in defence. Italy Euro 2016 Tickets are available here at Football Ticket Pad at the best prices anywhere on the web.

Key player

Giorgio Chiellini. Italy have an incredibly strong and experienced backline that is the foundation of their success. At the heart of it all is Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini; fast approaching 100 caps for his country. The veteran defender is improving with age and is still cutting it at the very top level. A huge advantage for Italy is that Chiellini will be playing alongside fellow Juve defenders Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci, and with Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon between the sticks. This gives the Italy defence a great understanding which may be the key to Euro 2016 success.

 The Goals

Graziano Pelle. For all Italy’s might in defence, they have become dependent on goals from the Southampton striker. Although many rate Pelle as a striker he is unproven at the very top level, he has looked dangerous in qualifying scoring three important goals. There will be huge question marks about whether Italy can rest their hopes upon him to deliver goals at a major tournament. Indeed it may be scoring goals that proves to be Italy’s downfall at Euro 2016 if Pelle isn’t firing on all cylinders, however he has proved at club level that he is more than capable of finding the back of the net.

One to watch out for

Antonio Candreva, the winger has had a good season for club and country and will play a key role on the wing for Italy at Euro 2016. The Lazio wide-man can be deployed in a number of positions both out wide and down the middle in a central attacking role. Candreva has 39 caps for his country but since playing in a more attacking role under Conte, he has added more goals to his game with two goals in the recent qualifying campaign. England fans may also remember him for Mario Balotelli's goal against England at the 2014 World Cup, Candreva provided the cross which ultimately knocked England out.

 Young starlet

Stephan El Shaarawy. This talented young winger played for AC Milan before transferring to AS Monaco. Still only 23, the youngster has an eccentric look and is capable of scoring some magnificent goals. He is hugely inconsistent and may be deployed more as an impact sub but we could well see him score a memorable goal at some stage throughout the tournament. The Azzurri appear to have a fine balance of youth and experience. Many are writing off their chances, but they always perform on the big stage and Euro 2016 in France should be no different. If you want to catch an Italy game at Euro 2016 take a look at the complete selection of I

Italy Euro 2016 Fixtures

Belgium v Italy

Italy will begin their Euro 2016 campaign in Lyon with a tricky test against one of world football's most dangerous opponents right now. Belgium and Italy will both be looking to get something from the game in a very hotly contested group to gain an early advantage in qualifying. Claudio Marchisio will be missing in the middle of midfield for the Italians after being ruled out for the tournament through injury. Both of these two teams have recently had the honour of being World number one. This however means little unless you are winning European Championships or World Cup's. Italy have recently triumphed in a World Cup but Belgium haven't won either trophy. Is it their time this summer? See the action live in France with Belgium v Italy tickets available through Football Ticket Pad.

Italy v Sweden

Another Stella tie in what's been a great draw for football fans; The second game of the Group perhaps hold more significance than the first and will play a huge role in deciding who will qualify from this very exciting group. Both teams will fancy their chances in Toulouse and despite not quite being the forces of old, they will certainly be no love lost between two of European football's stalwarts. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will surely have a say on which way the tie will go and the Italians will have to be wary of the threat the big Swede carries. There is pure excitement at the prospect of many of this summers fixtures and

Over the last four weeks there has been plenty of stars, flops and surprises. Football Ticket Pad has picked out their Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament...England fans look away now.

As all the Euro 2016 squads are announced, Football Ticket Pad has selected a ‘Missing XI’ made up of players who have been overlooked by their nation for this summer’s Euro 2016 Championships in France.

Lille is well renowned for its friendliness and strong cultural and architectural links. Located in northern France, Lille has a large university population and is a city based on Flemish influences due to its close proximity to the Belgian border. The city bases itself on its 17th century architecture which can be seen across the city, especially in the city centre and Grand Place which homes the iconic war memorial in a square surrounded by its historic buildings. The city also boasts fantastic transport networks, particularly its railways which make the city somewhat of an international hub. The city is set to host six games throughout Euro 2016 which will include four group matches, followed by a Round of 16 fixture and one of the Quarter Finals.
