Paderborn has only been about in its own right since the mid 80s being formed out of the 1985 merger of FC Paderborn and TuS Schloß Neuhaus. They have actually played a tier 3 side for most of their history. The new millennium saw a big change of fortunes, and this has been the most successful spell of this clubs history. As of 2014 they have been mixing it with Germans elite in the top flight of German football.
Unfortunately it was Paderborn who were involved in the biggest scandal of German football. In 2004 the DFB Pokal game against Hamburger SV took place which saw Paderborn run out 4-2 winners. However in January 2005 it became apparent the match referee, Robert Hoyzer, had taken money from Croatian gambling syndicates to fix the match using two wrongly awarded penalties and a questionable red card. This was a major embarrassment to the country during its preparations to host the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
To anyone living or travelling to the local area you will be pleased to hear Football Ticket Pad can offer Paderborn tickets to all home games and Paderborn football tickets to cup competitions also.
